A non-commercial pilot, and the permissions it stands on
Seanchaí publishes the heritage record of Castlerea for a visitor standing in front of it. It sells nothing, carries no advertising, sets no cookies and collects nothing about you. Every statement on it shows the source it rests on, and this page does the same for the project itself.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland records 130 monuments within about six kilometres of this town. Not one of them has ever had a line written for a visitor.
That is the whole reason for the pilot. The material exists, the State has published it, and nobody has turned it into something a person at a gate could read. Everything here is assembled from collections that are already public — nothing is invented, and where a claim could not be verified it is listed as withheld rather than quietly dropped.
Where two State sources contradict each other, both are published and neither is resolved. Where a child in 1938 wrote down something about the same ground the surveyor measured, both appear, and the child’s account is labelled testimony rather than record.
Two of these permissions stop at non-commercial use
This pilot is non-commercial, so it is inside them. Anything commercial built on the same material would need the agreement of National Inventory of Architectural Heritage and National Folklore Collection first. We have written to both and are waiting on their answer.
Said here rather than in a footnote, because a boundary nobody reads is not a boundary.
