Built around 1878 to a design by Frederick Cockerell, in late Victorian Italianate style.
The appraisal calls it "one of the first concrete houses constructed in Ireland" and "arguably the finest expression of the Victorian Italianate style in County Roscommon."
It is the seat of the O'Conor Don family. The eighteenth-century house they left stands in ruins beside it — the inventory calls that "a reminder of the continuity of habitation enjoyed by this estate."
